The Kirknewton Firework Display blasts off BIGGER, BETTER & BRIGHTER for a third year at 7.30pm on Thursday 2nd November in Kirknewton Park.

Tickets for the event are selling fast at Kirknewton Premier Festival Stores in Main Street.  Adults are £5 but children under 18 are free.  Glowing lightsabres also available from the shop only at £3 (other sellers on night will be unauthorised and will not go to organisers).  Cash or credit card accepted.

Additional donations for the community charity can be made in the shop in the orange buckets or by text message (see below) – but entry to the park is by ticket that can only be bought at Festival Stores.  Donations go towards community projects.

The night is due to be mild and dry so please walk to the park if you can.  If you come by car please park from the railway station upwards and avoid Park Terrace and Main Street if possible.  We advise getting tickets in advance from Festival Stores but please give yourself time to get parked, tickets, lightsabres and refreshments (all from our authorised seller at Festival Stores).  Please avoid purchasing from unauthorised sellers on the night. Please do not bring pets to the park.

Doors open 7.30pm with refreshments available from Festival Stores before and after the event – including 50p pick ‘n’ mix and candy floss & tray bake and hot chocolate.

There will be music, projections, minions and more to enjoy before the BIG COUNTDOWN between 7.30 and 8pm!  Final entry to the park will be 7.55pm for your safety.

21CC, who are running the Hopetoun House fireworks (among others) will be launching the Kirknewton Firework Display after last years hugely successful event.  This year we have put more funds into the firework show thanks to your kind donations last year.

Entry to the park is by ticket only for adults, and security will be there on the night.  ADULTS MUST HAVE A TICKET.  Children under 18 go free.  Children at primary school age must be accompanied by an adult.  Ticket entry will go back to community activities and next years show.

Please prepare for the Kirknewton Fireworks display with our ten pieces of advice;

Fireworks

1 – Please wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear on the night.  If it rains the show will still go ahead.  We will only postpone in very heavy winds.  WEATHER IS DUE TO BE GOOD, 6 DEGREES AND DRY
2 – Please bring a torch.
3 – Please walk and avoid travelling by car if you can.  Please park from train station car park up to park and avoid Main Street except for dropping off elderly and infirm.  You can reach Kirknewton on 28 bus or train from Edinburgh.
4 – Please enter by the bottom entrance of the park if possible (Whitemoss Road) – pop into the Festival Stores shop for food and drink
5 – Set up will begin around 2.30pm in the park. Entry to the back of the park and pitch will be limited from 5pm onwards as the fireworks are set up. At this time and on the night do not go beyond the cordon for your safety and to ensure the show continues.  Please do not bring pets.
6 – Entry to the park will not be possible when the show starts (approx 8pm) so please be in plenty of time.  Events begin at 7.30pm
7 – Note we are not selling anything other than supporting the sale of refreshments from the shop and light sabres for children. Avoid any other vendors who may set up and sell you items.  Black bags will be available for rubbish.
8 – This is a charity event.  If you save money on travel to another display, enjoy from home or feel the event is worth more to you or simply want to donate to the charity for more community projects then please donate by mobile text message.  You can donate to the charity by Text message to 70070 with the message KCDT01 followed by £2, £5 or £10 – a donation by text does not give you entry to the park.  There is also orange buckets at the shop for donations.  There will be no donation buckets this year for firework entry – you must have a ticket.
9 – The local Kirknewton pub will be open for older visitors after the fireworks!
10 – Finally, have fun!!!
