Job: KCDT Youth & Volunteer Co-ordinator. Circa £10,000 (21 hrs a week)

The vision of the Kirknewton Community Development Trust is to provide a sustainable and improved quality of life for everyone that lives and works in Kirknewton. Our mission is to engage everyone who lives and works in the village and be an inclusive and vibrant community that invests in the future of the village.

To help achieve this we are looking for a new Youth and Volunteer Co-ordinator.

You will be co-ordinating, supporting and encouraging all volunteering activity in Kirknewton and ensuring communications with all relevant stakeholders, particular focusing on youth groups.

This role is a fixed term contract until July 2018, funded by the Big Lottery Scotland Investing In Communities. Flexible working hours essential as these posts require some evening work, including some Friday evenings from 6 til 8pm.  Salary is circa £10,000 for 21 hours a week.  A work place pension is also available

Volunteer and Youth Co-ordinator Job Description
Responsible to: KCDT CEO
Responsible for: Youth Club and Kirknewton Volunteers
Hours of work: 21 hours per week

Broad Tasks

Co-ordinating of all volunteering activity in Kirknewton and ensuring communications with all relevant stakeholders, particular focusing on youth groups

Supporting and encouraging volunteers in current and developing groups.

Evaluate and Monitor and report on outcomes and objectives of the volunteer programme.

Grant Funding applications for specific projects.

Conducting and maintaining our skills and volunteer audit and data, matching skills to relevant activities in the Kirknewton Development Plan

Standardising and implementing Policies and Procedures in relation to volunteers

Ensuring Good Practice is adopted in relation to planning for volunteer involvement, recruitment, support and supervision and training and development of volunteers

Developing and organising delivery of Volunteer Management Training for key staff and support volunteers

Developing volunteering opportunities with role descriptions to support social enterprise development and employability skills

Developing methods of recognising and celebrating volunteer involvement and organising the Kirknewton Volunteer Awards.

Liaising with the Chief Executive and Directors of the Trust


Undertaking any other task as may occasionally be required

Attend supervision and support meetings as agreed

Person Specification

Experience and knowledge:
Experience of community volunteering
Experience of community based youth projects
Experience of managing volunteers.
Experience and understanding developing a volunteer policy
Knowledge of grant funding for volunteers

Skills and abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to communicate to individuals, different age groups and small and large groups.
