KCDT have been successful in a funding application to create a sensory garden in Kirknewton Woodland. The funding is being provided by Tesco Bags of Help Initiative. The scheme will see three community groups and projects awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.  The Kirknewton Community Development Trust aims to create a sensory garden in The Kirknewton Community Woodland. The Sensory garden would be filled with plants, features and equipment which would create a sensory experience, stimulating the senses of its visitors so that they can touch, smell and hear things which are reassuring, inspiring and relaxing. The garden would be an ideal place for community members to visit, especially benefiting the elderly, those with disabilities as well as young children. Now over to you. The Trust will receive either £8,000, £10,000 or £12,000 to create this project. With £12,000 we can create a sensory garden with added features such as an art space filled with wooden sculptures. To support us, please visit Tesco East Calder from 27 February until 6 March and you can vote for who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards. All support is appreciated!
